Stock Footage Dispatches: Field Notes from a Specialist Cameraman
This isn't a soppy lifestyle blog. It’s a documentation of the work behind my footage.
From field-testing and reviewing camera gear to hauling it all up into Snowdonia for a wild camp, these are my notes on stock footage filming, gear, my new fine art prints and the great British outdoors.

Winter Camping in Snowdonia Video
After three failed attempts to capture Tryfan at night, I headed back up Pen yr Ole Wen for a two-day solo winter mission. The conditions were "favourable"—meaning snow flurries, gusty winds, and freezing temperatures. From getting held up by a baby goat on the ascent to cooking steaks in a snow-dug kitchen, this trip was about patience and persistence. The result? An 18-hour timelapse of the Ogwen Valley and the final capture of the "Tryfan at Night" print.
UK Flooding Stock Footage
Climate change? I have no idea, but I do have access to a load of dreadful flood damage stock footage from Worcestershire during the floods of 2023. You’ll find shots from Worcester, with the cricket ground and horse racing racecourse completely underwater, along with shots from further up the River Severn in Stourport and Bewdley.
Worcestershire Winter Sunrise - New Artwork!
Captured at -8°C on the highest point of the Clent Hills, this isn't just a quick snapshot. It is a massive 195-megapixel image recording a rare moment where warm sunrise light was trapped between freezing fog and a blanket of cloud. The detail is incredible—you can see every frozen branch. This spectacular winter scene is now available as museum-quality wall art and slimline canvas in the Fine Art Prints store.
