Snowdonia Stock Footage: The Definitive Archive of the Welsh Mountains (Eryri)

This is the largest and most specialised landscape category in the entire library, representing years of dedication to documenting the most challenging terrain in the United Kingdom. When you need authentic Snowdonia stock footage, you are not looking for a single clip—you are looking for a comprehensive visual narrative that spans weather, altitude, and emotion.

I have, if I may be so bold, the best archive for Snowdonia stock footage available anywhere, bar none.

Unmatched Depth: The Range of the Welsh 3000s

My collection documents all the major mountain ranges within Snowdonia National Park (Eryri) with uncompromising detail:

  • The Glyderau Range: My intensive focus here captures the heart of the region's most rugged and technically challenging peaks. This includes the dramatic Tryfan (917m), the boulder fields of Glyder Fach (994m), and the infamous scrambles of Bristly Ridge. Footage covers the full range of conditions, from beautiful clarity to dense fog (CP #190, CP #116).

  • The Snowdon Massif: This section captures Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa, 1085m) itself, Crib Goch (the exposed, knife-edge ridge), and Y Lliwedd. This includes archive footage of the summit area before mass tourism took hold (CP #221) and dynamic views of the Pyg and Miners tracks.

  • The Carneddau: This area is documented through multi-day treks across the vast plateaus of Carnedd Llewelyn and Carnedd Dafydd, often featuring the unique herds of wild ponies and epic sweeping drone shots of the Ogwen Valley (CP #188).

  • The Rhinogydd: My footage of this region (CP #54) documents a truly isolated journey into what is often referred to as Snowdonia’s last remaining wilderness—raw, remote, and seldom filmed.

The Specialist Edge: Earned Phenomenon Footage

The archive also contains assets that required expert meteorological planning, a skill I honed during my time training at the Met Office. This is footage that AI cannot replicate:

  • The Cloud Inversion Suites (CP #312–#315): This core collection is the result of a two-year mission to capture the perfect inversion. It includes:

    • Aerial Majesty: Drone views (CP #313) of the entire Ogwen Valley submerged under a sea of cloud, with Tryfan and the Snowdon Massif rising like isolated islands.

    • Celestial Wonders: Specialised ProRes 422 Timelapses (CP #315) that capture the faint Northern Lights and Comet Lemmon in the same frame as the mountain ridge—verifiable astronomical events impossible to synthesise.

    • Atmospheric Detail: Ground-level footage (CP #312) documenting the ultra-rare Brocken Spectre and the surreal sight of clouds streaming through the peaks "like a river."

  • Brutal Winter Reality: Footage of winter snow and ice (CP #185, CP #147) captures the true challenge of the cold, icy Glyderau and Carneddau, including the bitter windchill and the sheer physical effort of carrying heavy packs up frozen scree.

The Commitment: Authenticity for Broadcast

All footage within this category is captured with high-end cameras (Sony A7III, ZV-E1) and specialised drone platforms (DJI Mini 4), ensuring cinematic quality and robust resolution.

The Guarantee: All footage is 4K UHD with no extra fees for TV or film use. Furthermore, shots featuring me hiking, camping, and cooking are fully model released, providing crucial, pre-cleared human context for scale and adventure.
