The Craft Unveiled I Stock Footage: A Deep Dive into My Cameraman B-Roll Archive
Every stunning landscape, every bustling city scene, every intimate wildlife moment you see in my stock footage library has a story behind it. It's a story of early alarms, long hikes, meticulous planning, and often, battling the elements. While I occasionally include a few Behind the Scenes (BTS) shots in other packs to give a glimpse of the process, Clip Pack #228 – Cameraman and Photographer Using Lenses and Cameras B-Roll Stock Footage – is different. This is a pack full of that BTS goodness, an hour and four minutes of it, offering a unique look into the sheer effort and technical precision that goes into building a world-class archive like mine.
Behind the scenes stock footage preview
For over an hour, across 141 clips and 25.14GB of 4K UHD footage, this pack pulls back the curtain. It's a vast collection of me, a cameraman and photographer, wrestling with, fine-tuning, and operating all kinds of camera equipment and technology. And yes, all footage of me is fully model released, free of charge, with no extra fees for 4K or for use in TV and film – a true bargain for this kind of detailed, authentic content.
The Tools of the Trade, and the Toil Behind Them
I often talk about the importance of high-tech gear, about using prime lenses and gimbals to get that exquisite, cinematic look. This pack shows you that in action. You'll see me messing with every kind of lens – from wide angle to telephoto, my beloved Sony glass, 20mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm, and that big 200-600mm Sony zoom lens. There are prime lenses, Samyang lenses, big gimbals, small gimbals, and fiddling with lens filters. You’ll even catch me rolling lenses on a table, preparing for a shoot. It's a comprehensive look at the tools of my trade.
But more than just the gear, this pack reveals the process. You’ll see me using this equipment in all kinds of locations, from deep in the woods to more generic views with traffic and long grass. I'm adjusting camera settings, fine-tuning focus, waiting patiently for timelapses to complete, standing still, sitting still – often at night, under the beam of a head torch, setting up tripods. There are drone shots too, showing the perspective from above the operator, giving another layer to the BTS.
This footage is raw and authentic. You’ll see me wearing coats and woolly hats in the cold, raincoats in the drizzle, through sunshine, thick cloud, and at night. There are shots of me pulling out big lenses from my camera bag, adjusting framing and composition, and even the simple ritual of making coffee during a shoot. It’s a huge variety of B-roll, offering multiple uses.
The Invisible Effort Behind the Perfect Shot
Every landscape shot, every dramatic timelapse, every smooth city aerial in my vast archive represents hours, sometimes days, of behind-the-scenes effort. For example, when I capture those incredible cloud inversions in Snowdonia, it's not just a lucky drone flight. It involves meticulous weather forecasting, often hiking up a mountain in "zero dark thirty" to be in position before dawn, setting up multiple cameras for timelapses, and then enduring freezing conditions while waiting for the light to break. My Clip Pack #215 - Snowdon Winter Sunrise Stock Footage, for instance, speaks volumes about the icy, dangerous climbs and the cumbersome gear we used in 2017 to capture "moments of absolute epicness". This BTS footage captures some of that.
Details:
Duration: 16 minutes 23 seconds
Clips: 60
File Size: 6.67GB
Resolution: 4K UHD
Description: This is an amazing collection of mostly drone footage, with some gimbal shots included, captured in January 2017 with a friend and colleague. We hiked up to the summit of Snowdon at "zero dark thirty" to reach the top by sunrise, carrying a ridiculous amount of what was then top-of-the-range drone gear. It was big, heavy, and cumbersome, flying like a sack of Snowdonia rocks, but it was cutting edge for the time. An icy, dangerous climb, filled with sweat and tears, followed, but we reached the summit in time for moments of absolute epicness that are rarely repeated.
About Snowdon and Crib Goch: Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is the highest mountain in Wales, standing at 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level, and is located in Snowdonia National Park. It's an iconic peak, popular with hikers and climbers. Crib Goch is a knife-edge ridge on the Snowdon massif, considered one of the most challenging and notorious scrambles in the UK.
Footage Highlights:
Winter Summit Scenes: A layer of snow covers the summits, Crib Goch looks amazing, and red to gold light develops over the national park. The light is nothing short of spectacular, and there was no wind, making it truly magical. We spent hours flying and filming to top off the trip.
Epic Views: Features wide views, reveals, tilting shots, showing Snowdon summit, Crib Goch (the knife-edge ridge covered in snow), the summit looking magnificent in the morning light, the wider areas, and the surrounding lakes.
Historical Glimpse: The summit was empty! The mountain summit cafe, the rocks, the boulders, the snow, and the ice are simply brilliant.
Gimbal Footage: Includes gimbal footage from the top, even capturing a police helicopter just a few feet above the summit.
Ideal For: This is a bargain at just £1495. Some of the shots are nothing short of incredible, where the conditions just aligned and will probably never be repeated. Secure them now! I've since spent 200+ days filming in Snowdonia National Park, and this is still some of the best content I've captured. Those views are incredible.
Licensing: All footage is provided in 4K UHD with no extra fees for TV and film use. Full terms apply.
Similarly, my urban hyperlapses, like those in Clip Pack #204 - Birmingham Spaghetti Junction Drone Video and Timelapse / Hyperlapse Stock Footage, don't just magically appear. They require hundreds of hours of painstaking capture and post-processing. Seeing me "messing with camera settings" or "waiting for timelapses to complete" in Clip Pack #228 offers a tangible link to the dedication required for those complex sequences.
