There are mountains, and then there is Snowdonia. For me, it's more than just a landscape; it's a profound connection, a place where the ancient earth meets the ever-changing sky in a truly majestic dance. My latest offering, Clip Pack #217 – Snowdon and Crib Goch Stock Footage, is a compact yet powerful collection that brings you right into the heart of this wild, untamed beauty.

Crib Goch stock footage preview

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), the highest peak in Wales, stands sentinel over this incredible National Park, its presence felt long before you reach its summit. And then there's Crib Goch, a name that evokes both awe and a healthy respect among mountaineers. This knife-edge ridge, a formidable arête on the Snowdon massif, is a challenge and a thrill, offering some of the most exhilarating scrambling experiences in the UK.

My pursuit of capturing these iconic Welsh giants often takes me deep into their embrace, sometimes for multiple days, leaving the everyday far behind. I remember those expeditions well, back in the day, with considerably less fat on me, and certainly less hair on the bottom of my face but more on the top of my head! The effort was real: sweat, toil, and the constant physical demand of carrying equipment up into those summits. Back then, it meant strapping a big, old drone precariously to the outside of my backpack, along with big, heavy batteries and a big, heavy camera. That drone, bless its heart, didn't always like to fly. Every single flight was a huge risk, a gamble against the wind and the nascent technology. How times have changed, indeed.

Clip Pack #217 is a testament to those early days, offering 4 minutes and 54 seconds of 4K UHD footage across 28 clips, totalling 2GB. It comprises 10 drone clips, 10 gimbal clips, and 8 unique timelapse sequences. The timelapses are particularly special; captured on those moody, murky, cloudy days, they reveal a brilliant, majestic movement over Snowdonia's most rugged peaks, post-processed and graded to perfection. These eight sequences are true gems, showcasing the raw, dramatic Welsh mountain weather in its most atmospheric form.

The drone and gimbal clips then take you on an intimate tour of Snowdon and Crib Goch themselves, often shrouded in looming clouds, creating mystical, atmospheric visuals that embody the brilliant Welsh mountain weather. You'll see the rocky knife-edge ridge of Crib Goch leading off into the distance, with wide shots, establishing views, and dramatic reveals that highlight the awe-inspiring scale of this landscape. It's still brilliant footage, a historical snapshot of the mountain, often empty of the crowds you see today – a true sign of the times.

After a cold day filming, there's little that compares to sitting outside the tent, a proper chicken and mushroom pot noodle warming my hands, perhaps even a steak and liver sizzling in the pan as I watch low-flying military aircraft dart through the valleys. And in the morning, after a truly cold night, the sizzle of bacon filling the air is an absolute symphony. These moments, both challenging and profoundly simple, define my love for this area.

The Evolution of My Snowdonia Collection: A Visually Poetic Journey

Since those early days in 2016, technology has truly evolved. Drones are more advanced, cameras are incredibly sensitive, and my own craft has been honed over countless hours in these mountains. Because of this, I firmly believe I have captured the best stock footage of Snowdonia National Park ever, and it's all available here on my website. It's a collection born from a deep passion for this incredible place, an ever-growing visual poem to its peaks and valleys.

My lens has traced the majestic ridges of Tryfan, witnessed the iconic Adam and Eve stones standing sentinel, and explored the formidable Crib Goch, its knife-edge back etched against dramatic skies. I've soared over the mighty Snowdon Summit (Yr Wyddfa) itself, capturing its enduring grandeur, and explored the sprawling expanse of the Glyderau range, from the rugged slopes of Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr to the imposing Y Garn and the Castle of the Winds.

I've documented the challenging beauty of the Carneddau, climbing Pen yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd, and Carnedd Llewelyn, feeling the vastness of that wild plateau. My cameras have descended into the mystical depths of the Ogwen Valley, revealing the serene waters of Llyn Ogwen, Llyn Idwal with its tranquil beach, and the hidden gem of Llyn Bochlwyd. I've captured the often-unseen beauty of the Rhinogydd range, navigating the wild remoteness of Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach, where only the hardiest dare to tread.

My footage tells stories of wild camping adventures under a blanket of stars, where tents glow softly against the moonlit peaks, and morning light paints the landscape in hues of gold and rose. I’ve captured the exhilarating phenomenon of cloud inversions, where valleys fill with a sea of mist, and mountain summits emerge like islands in a celestial ocean. You’ll find the quiet beauty of frozen lakes reflecting icy ridges, the relentless beauty of snow showers forming over the peaks, and the vibrant life of mountain streams cascading down slopes.

From the smallest details of lichen clinging to ancient rocks, to the vast panoramas stretching to the Welsh coast, my collection covers every facet of Snowdonia. You'll see the intimacy of setting up camp, the simple joy of a hot drink in cold air, and the determined footsteps on rugged trails, whether in deep snow or over treacherous rocky ground. It's a tapestry woven from the elements: the biting cold of winter, the fierce winds that whip across the ridges, the delicate beauty of a rare wildflower, and the ever-present drama of light shifting across the landscape.

My archive holds glimpses of historical moments, like the empty Snowdon summit in 2016, and chronicles the evolution of this extraordinary National Park through the years. It’s a love letter to the mountains, an ode to their enduring spirit, captured with a professional's eye and a wanderer's heart.
