A Glimpse of Riverside Life: Bewdley and Stourport in Archive 4K UHD Stock Footage
There's something uniquely charming about towns that grow up alongside a major river, shaping their history and character around its flow. Bewdley and Stourport-on-Severn, both nestled on the banks of the River Severn in Worcestershire, are perfect examples of this. My latest offering, Clip Pack #218 – Bewdley and Stourport - Stock Footage Archive, provides a fascinating look back at these "gorgeous little places" as they appeared in 2016. It’s a versatile collection that, despite its archive nature, still holds immense value for capturing authentic British riverside life.

Bewdley: A Georgian Gem on the Severn
Bewdley is widely celebrated as a quintessential Georgian riverside town. Its elegant architecture, much of which dates from the 18th century when it was a thriving inland port, gives it a distinctive character. The town’s historic bridge, designed by Thomas Telford and opened in 1798, is a prominent landmark, replacing earlier structures that struggled against the mighty Severn's floods. Bewdley was once a bustling centre for trade, particularly for goods travelling to and from the Black Country via the river and later, canals. Today, it's a popular tourist destination, known for its scenic walks, independent shops, and as a stop on the Severn Valley Railway.
My drone footage in Clip Pack #218 captures Bewdley’s riverside area with wide views, showing its surrounding houses and homes, and of course, the iconic Bewdley Bridge spanning the River Severn. These shots offer a genuine perspective on the town's charming blend of history and natural beauty.
Stourport-on-Severn: An Inland Port and Leisure Hub
A little further downstream lies Stourport-on-Severn, a town born directly from the canal age. It emerged in the late 18th century as a key inland port, where goods transferred between the River Severn and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. Its unique series of canal basins, locks, and docks – still very much in evidence today – made it a vital link in the country's early industrial transport network. Beyond its industrial heritage, Stourport became famous for its leisure attractions, particularly its funfair, which has been a beloved local institution for generations.
In this pack, you'll find drone shots showcasing the Stourport viaduct, the locally famous Stourport funfair by the river, and the busy docks area. The footage also captures a huge caravan park, packed with white caravans, reflecting Stourport's enduring popularity as a holiday and leisure destination.
Capturing the River’s Embrace in 2016
Clip Pack #218 contains 6 minutes and 8 seconds of 4K UHD footage across 25 clips, totaling 2.49GB. All of this footage was captured by drone in 2016. My aim was to get wide views and tilting shots over both Bewdley and Stourport, capturing their generic backgrounds, traffic, cars, roads, homes, and houses, and the surrounding countryside. You'll see smooth, long shots encompassing the tree-lined River Severn, fields, and rural scenes, as well as car parks.
This collection is a great window into how these places appeared almost a decade ago. While my drone technology and cameras were considered high-tech for 2016, the world of aerial cinematography has evolved significantly since then. Today's drones offer even greater stability, sharper optics, and more advanced features. However, for many purposes, this 2016 footage remains perfectly fine for today's productions. I’ve priced this pack at a very low cost, just £250 for the lot, to reflect its archive nature and the technological advancements that have since occurred. It's an absolute bargain for genuine 4K UHD footage with full rights for TV and film use.
