A Journey Through Time: Bridgnorth, Ironbridge, and the Long Mynd in Archive 4K UHD Stock Footage

For me, the Shropshire landscape holds a very special place. It’s a place I return to again and again, whether for challenging wild camping trips or simply to soak in the incredible beauty. My latest offering, Clip Pack #220 – Bridgnorth, Ironbridge and the Long Mynd Archive Stock Footage, is a deep dive into this beloved region, offering a unique glimpse into these iconic locations as they appeared when I first started capturing them in 4K UHD. This is footage I've made available at a bargain price, far too cheap some may say, but it's to reflect its archive nature – a sign of how far both technology and my own craft have evolved.

Bridgnorth: A Town Divided by History

Bridgnorth is a fascinating market town in Shropshire, famously split into High Town and Low Town, connected by the steepest inland funicular railway in England. It’s a place of steep streets, historic buildings, and charming riverside views. The town's history dates back to the Anglo-Saxon period, with a castle built by Robert de Belleme in the 1100s. Its strategic position on the River Severn made it a significant port for centuries, particularly for the movement of coal and timber.

In Clip Pack #220, I’ve included drone and gimbal shots that capture the essence of Bridgnorth, including St Mary's Church, the meandering River Severn, the bustling town centre, and the bridge that spans the river. You'll see the surrounding houses and homes nestled into the landscape, offering a genuine perspective on this historic Shropshire gem.

Ironbridge: The Cradle of the Industrial Revolution

Just a short distance from Bridgnorth lies Ironbridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site globally recognised as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Its iconic Iron Bridge, built in 1779, was the world's first cast-iron bridge and remains a powerful symbol of human ingenuity. The gorge itself is a geological marvel, and the area is dotted with museums and historical sites that tell the story of a time when this small corner of Shropshire changed the world.

My footage in this pack includes shots over Ironbridge and the River Severn as it flows through the gorge. These scenes offer a foundational view of this incredibly important historical landmark, providing context to its enduring legacy.

The Long Mynd and Shropshire Hills: My Enduring Love Affair

The Long Mynd, a vast heathland plateau within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a landscape I hold very dear. It's a place of sweeping vistas, ancient trails, and a unique, rugged beauty that calls to me time and again. It's where I've spent countless days, wild camping, hiking, and finding solace in its wild open spaces. The views from the Long Mynd are truly expansive, often encompassing not just the immediate rolling hills but also distant landmarks like the Wrekin, the Stiperstones, and on a clear day, stretching out towards the Malvern Hills and even the West Midlands.

In this archive pack, you'll find a variety of shots from the Long Mynd area, including the familiar views of the Shropshire Hills and Church Stretton below. These clips capture the essence of this beloved landscape, from its open moorland to its serene valleys.

A Bargain from the Archive: How Times Have Changed

This Clip Pack #220, totalling 15 minutes and 43 seconds across 59 clips and 6.39GB of 4K UHD footage, is truly a variety pack of Shropshire. I've made it available for only £495 – a real bargain – to reflect its archive nature. This footage was captured when drone technology was still relatively nascent compared to today. Back then, carrying a big, old drone, precariously strapped to the outside of my backpack with heavy batteries, was the norm. Every flight was a huge risk, as the drones were less refined and often temperamental. It was a time of sweat and toil to get those aerial perspectives. How times have changed!

While the footage is still brilliant and perfectly usable for a variety of contexts – definitely for TV, documentaries, and news stories – it has, in my opinion, been superseded by my more recent work. My subsequent captures of Shropshire have truly pushed the boundaries, benefiting from massive advancements in drone technology, camera capabilities, and my own refined techniques. I honestly believe I have captured some of the best, most world-class footage of the Shropshire Hills available anywhere now.
